Clarksville, as well as other communities in Tennessee, is facing issues
of at-rist youth and yound adults.
Community gardens tranform empty lots into green, living space that can
discourage inappropriate action and anti-social behavior in youth.
These green spaces are collaborative projects created by members of the
community in which residents share in the maintenance and rewards of the
garden.
Within U.S. cities there are an estimated 10,000 community gardens. The
simple act of planting a garden can create positive environmental,
economic and social impacts on a neighborhood.
Community gardens foster cultural understanding and awareness of the
environment around us.
